& The Velvet Elvis Bathroom

It's been WAY too long....

Since I've posted an update, but the Bar is DONE!!!
WOOHOO!!!!

Doing the bartop was quite the adventure, but SO worth it!

Here are some bartop pictures, first.....

Then, the next day after we finished the bartop, a mama deer gave birth to a baby deer in our backyard & then deposited him on the doormat into the bar, where he stayed ALL DAY until she came for him that night.  He was SO CUTE!!

ALOHA INDEED!!!

& they still come by every day and eat & hang out in the yard, so we're watching him get bigger & bigger!

I did get some pictures of our completed Velvet Elvis Bathroom as well - here you go for your viewing pleasure:

& I do owe you all pictures and a video of the ENTIRE bar with everything now in place.

After we get back from my 50th Birthday trip next week, I'll get that DONE!

Finally.....The Bar Top!

OK - we're getting it all ready to rock & roll.

Got everything laid out & glued down this weekend.
I need to get the Epoxy ordered today, then we're leaving town for a week to head to Chicago, so the plan is to pour the week after.  Should be quite the adventure, since pours need to happen every 4-6 hours & we need 8 pours......

Where we're at today:

CONTRACTORS ARE GONE - YIPPEEEEE!!!!

Well, it took *almost* a year to the day, but our contractors are gone for good as of about 1.5 weeks ago.  It's so quiet around here & we're LOVING it!!!

We're busy now getting the decor, booze, barware & glassware into the bar.

& soon the big project for us, which will mean the bar will be DONE - pouring the bartop....broken Tiki Mugs embedded in resin.  We're getting close - I called the Resin company last week to ask some questions, I need to do some measurements & then get the resin ordered.

Next steps:

1. Order resin

2. Paint the bartop black & re-caulk & sand anywhere needed

3. Layout & glue down all tiki mug pieces, postcards, coins, etc. that are going in the bar top

4. Pour resin - in 8 layers, all of which have to be a very specific number of hours apart, at 75+ degrees & no dust.

5. Enjoy our FABULOUS Tiki Bar!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So Close......but not yet done!

We last left off at the sewer line going in, so a few shots here to show how much fun that was to live with for a few weeks!

But, then, it all started to feel SO MUCH better, as the Port-a-Potty that had been a fixture in our front yard for 11 months FINALLY went away for good!  I'm sure the neighbors appreciate that!

&, then the Dumpster, too, went away - YAY!!!!

& Since the bathroom is now mostly done, we start hanging art in our Hawaiian Velvet Elvis Bathroom....

And then the booze has started to go into the Bar!!

& The shelf lighting is in, too (which I had to re-do after the electrician screwed it up....ugh)

Our contractors said they would be done end of last week.  Now it's end of this week.  Not holding my breath, but we're close!

And - we'll finally be able to pour the bar top once they are OUT!  That will be the very last step of construction.

Before & After Pix!

Aloha!

HGTV recently asked for Before/After pictures as something they can include in their edit, so I took some new picture, mixed in with old ones from similar angles & wanted to share here, too :)

So here are a few side-by-sides for your viewing pleasure!

Starting to wind things down.........sort of

So....the bathroom is starting to actually look like a bathroom!
But - no - the toilet isn't hooked up - that was just for TV....we have to put a regular white low flow one in for inspection - then the PINK one will be back!

& FABULOUS real giant clam shell sink!

& the bar sink is in - not operational, yet, but IN!

& we got some more stuff hung this weekend.....starting to look more like a tiki bar....

Oh - yeah, and they started digging the line to the sewer today, too - we should have water by early next week, I think!
